After an extraordinary 47 years with the Gosport Ferry, Captain Richard Clark retired on Tuesday, bringing to a close a remarkable chapter in our history.
Throughout nearly five decades of dedicated service, Richard has seen seven ferries sail through our fleet — from the Gosport Queen to Harbour Spirit — and has been a familiar, trusted presence to generations of passengers and colleagues alike. Ferry service runs deep in the Clark family: Richard followed in the footsteps of his father, Bill, who himself devoted 42 years to the company.
As Richard steps ashore to enjoy a well-earned retirement, we wish him calm seas, sunny days, and every happiness in the years ahead.
The Clark family connection continues, however, as Richard passes the mantle to his brother Kevin — with a “mere” 33 years of service under his belt!
Here is a lovely news piece on the day from the Portsmouth News.
