Portsmouth Historic Dockyard

  • Portsmouth Historic Dockyard

Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard is home to some of the most famous warships in the world; Mary Rose, HMS Victory and HMS Warrior 1860. Their appeal endures because of the graphic and moving stories associated with them; being the favourite of Henry VIII; the victor at the Battle of Trafalgar and never firing a shot in anger during 10 long years of sea domination.

Explorers can learn history in fun ways with costumed interpreters, games, dressing-up, crafts, trails and talks. There's also lots of space for children to explore in their own way, including indoor attractions to cater for that ever-changing British weather.

Those with a more serious interest in naval matters have ample opportunities to discover in more detail. For refreshments, choose from Costa Coffee, Boathouse 7 or the Georgian Tearooms, and picnic areas are also available. Shops at the Historic Dockyard include national retailer Nauticalia, museum shops and the intriguing Antiques Storehouse (the largest antiques centre on the South Coast).

With a full year-round events programme, flexible family tickets for 5 (max 2 adults/seniors) with the validity of a year, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is one of the best-value, full days out in the UK!
